Composer’s Note:

“Deep in Our Hearts” has truly been a work of heart. MHS was the place where my dad went to high school and where he developed his love of music that he passed on to me. I was fortunate to be a part of this program for 2 short months in early 2021 for my music education internship. It was easy to feel as though I was a part of a family here and it was easy to see that the students were proud to be a part of this family too. So this piece is dedicated to past members of this band like my dad, current members, and future members who will continue the legacy that has already been lovingly created.

The title and melodic inspiration from the MHS alma mater:

"Deep in our Hearts there

Lives a love for dear old MHS

We'll sing her praise thru all our days

The High School we love the best”
